Anniversary week breaks records

Lonigro’s Supermarket celebrated forty years of grocery business in Gerald last week. A week-long celebration sale brought floods of customers to the store, with Thursday breaking a three-year sales record. Friday’s sales surpassed Thursday’s and Saturday was another great day at the market.  Barbecue sales (and samples) out of a truck in the parking lot  (top photo) had a steady stream of hungry customers lined up for the renowned smoked meat. Friday saw such an influx of customers that the grocery cart area (photo above) was empty several times throughout the day. Owner Larry Lonigro joked to his son Luke, that for the 100th anniversary, he should remember to order more carts. Even the store’s garden center had brisk sales throughout the week.
