Armin Enke

Armin Clarence Enke, 93, Owensville, died Monday, March 19, 2018, at St. Clair.

He was born Feb. 5, 1925, to William and Lydia (Pietraschke) Enke, in St. Louis.

Armin served his country overseas from 1944 to 1946, in Germany. He fought in Central Europe and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, a Bronze Battle Star, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was life member of VFW Post 6133 and worked as a heavy equipment operator in excavating for many years and at MFA in Owensville. 

He was a member of St. John’s UCC Church of Bem. Armin enjoyed deer hunting. 

He was preceded in death by parents, William and Lydia; sister, Beulah Rutz; and brothers, Raymond Enke and Donald (Duke) Enke.

He is survived by son, Dennis Enke and Rachel Bethel of St. Clair; daughter, Karen Willimann and husband Gary of Rosebud; brothers, Art Enke and wife Erma of Owensville and Paul Enke and wife Sharon of St. Peters; sister, Mildred “Mickey” Treece and husband Donald of Cuba; and granddaughters, Shelby Enke and Isabelle Enke.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville, with a VFW Ceremony at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Heather Arcovitch officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s UCC Cemetery at Bem with full Military Honors.
