Viola Ruffner, 84, of Owensville died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Frene Valley Healthcare South in Owensville.
Viola was born in Swiss on Jan. 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Anna (Sunderwirth) and Henry J. Ruffner.
Burial was private at the Swiss Evangelical Reformed Cemetery in Swiss.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.

Mary Anna Dahms, 85, of Leslie died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington. She was born Dec. 12, 1924 in St. Louis, a daughter of the late Raymond William and Anna Elizabeth Schmuck Millaway. She attended Grant Elementary School and Roosevelt High School in St. Louis. On March 2, 1946, Mary was united in marriage in St. Louis to Henry Clement Dahms, Sr., who survives at their home.
Mary worked for Eden Publishing House and Ray Plumbing Supply. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church near Gerald, where she was active in the church’s Women’s Group and Bible Study, and was a member of the Metropolitan Belleville Choral Group.
She is survived by two sons, Henry C. Dahms, Jr. and wife Rose Ann of Leslie and Allen R. Dahms and wife Carol of St. Louis; a brother, Raymond W. Millaway of Millstadt, Ill.; a brother-in-law, John Lechner of Edwardsville, Ill. two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ruth Lechner, and a great-grandson, Owen Dahms.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, at the Antioch Christian Church with Rev. Don Bader and Fr. Jim Foster officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Vernon L. Walker, 80, of Sterling, Ill., formerly of Bland, died Dec. 12, 2009 at the home of his daughter.
Vernon was born Oct. 19,1929 in Pampa, Texas and was raised by his grandparents, Frank and Pearl Walker of Bland. He graduated from Bland High School in 1948 and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served almost 25 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked at Sauk Valley Community college, retiring after 20 years as supervisor of maintenance. On May 26, 1956, he married Bessie V. Roberson. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2001. He was a member of the Harvest Time Bible Church of Rock Falls, Ill., the Masonic Lodge of Belle and a past member of the Fulton Saddle Club.
A brother, Donald DeLong, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his two daughters, Diane Tackett and husband Dave of Sterling, Ill. and Debbie Ordean of Roscoe, Ill; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Meyer of Mexico, Mo., Wilma Drapp and husband Dave of Villa Ridge, Lucille Wann and husband Ray and Barbara Maccormick of Newburg; an uncle, James Walker of Owensville; and three aunts, Nadine Jarvis and husband Carl of Owensville, Ada Mae Lewis of Rolla and Eva Manes of Muncie, Ind.
Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Harvest Time bible Church in Rock Falls, Ill. with Rev. Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial,with full military honors, followed at Rock Island National Cemetery.

Jonathan (Jon) H. Maciejewski, age 65, of Rocky Mount, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Jon was born Oct. 31, 1944 in St. Louis, the son of Stanley F. and Florence (Helling) Maciejewski.
Jon is survived by his son Micah Maciejewski and wife Melissa of Lee’s Summit; step-sons, George Williamson and wife Elena and Rob Williamson and wife Joni all of Houston, Texas; brother Larry Maciejewski and wife Jane of Owensville; two grandchildren, Aaron and Carter, along with several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jon owned and operated Maciejewski Mechanical Services in Rocky Mount. He was an Eagle Scout, an all-around handyman, and avid boating enthusiast. More than anything, Jon loved his family, especially his grandchildren and spending time with them.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 9, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri.
Graveside Service was today, March 10, at 11 a.m., at Owensville City Cemetery.
