Their names sound the same but are spelling differently. New R-2
Superintendent Mark Leach will be assisted during the 2008-09 school
year by Mark Leech, retired superintendent at Hermann.  Mark Leach at recent school board meeting.

Improvement.
That was the word of the night following Friday’s jamboree-style
scrimmage held at Rolla High School according to new Dutchmen head
football coach Paul Schmanke.  Dutchmen senior running back Blake Harrell tries to escape the clutches of Rolla’s Robbie Pettijohn (20) during preseason jamboree action at Rolla High School Friday night. Joining Rolla and OHS at the jamboree Friday were St. James and Versailles. Owensville will open the 2008 campaign with a road trip to Potosi to take on the Trojans this Friday night with a 7 p.m., kickoff time.

Dutchgirls walk their way to win in opener, 17-2 |

For Dutchgirl softball, they were looking to win their season opener for the first time in five years.
After traditionally opening against Fatima, Owensville started their
2008 season on the friendly confines of Lion Field against Steelville’s
Cardinals.  Melissa Hollandsworth fires a ball towards first base between innings of Owensville’s 17-2 opening win over Steelville Monday at Lions Field.
