In a special meeting Monday to set the city’s operating tax levy, Owensville aldermen kept the levy exactly where it was at last year.

Their names sound the same but are spelling differently. New R-2 Superintendent Mark Leach will be assisted during the 2008-09 school year by Mark Leech, retired superintendent at Hermann.

That was the word of the night following Friday’s jamboree-style scrimmage held at Rolla High School according to new Dutchmen head football coach Paul Schmanke.

After traditionally opening against Fatima, Owensville started their 2008 season on the friendly confines of Lion Field against Steelville’s Cardinals.
