The Gerald Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet the Candidates forum March 28, at 6 p.m. at the Depot in Legion Park.

Katrinia Henson, president of the local chamber encourages the public to attend.

In addition to candidates, people were also invited to explain some of the issues voters may see on their ballots.

The Chamber will hold their regular business meeting at 5:30 p.m., before the forum begins. Those wishing to attend only the forum are invited to come in and have seat, without worrying about  disturbing the meeting.

With only one contested aldermanic seat, and no contested school board seats, the event is not expected to last too long.

Gerald will have two open seats in Ward 2 which may be determined by write-in votes. Anyone who wants to get their name out as a write-in candidate is welcome to speak during the forum.

This is an easy way for voters to become educated on local candidates and issues. Gerald voters will help decide whether Proposition P  will pass countywide.

They will also determine two other tax issues, a local city use tax and a local sales tax.

All three are important issues that will need informed voters to decide.

A question and answer session is always included at Meet the Candidates. Attend and get your questions answered at this free event.
