County worker Slater to seek Primary vote for Presiding Commissioner

David Slater, a Gasconade County Road Department employee since 1999, filed March 20 as a Republican candidate for the August Primary to challenge incumbent Presiding Commissioner Larry Miskel.

Slater, a resident of the Swiss community, is the only other candidate to file for county office since opening day of the month-long filing period which ended Tuesday.

The Presiding Commissioner’s position and that of the Circuit Clerk/Ex-Officio Recorder of Deed, will be the only two county elected offices up for election this fall.

Pam Greunke, the incumbent circuit clerk, is being challenged by Joann Dobson, a clerk in the prosecutor’s office. Both women signed up Feb. 27 on the first day for filing.

Six other Gasconade County incumbents also filed for re-election. All six are Republicans and all six filed before 9 a.m. on the first day.

Incumbents filing for the August Primary on Feb. 27 included Associate Circuit Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger, Prosecuting Attorney Mary E. Weston, Presiding Commissioner Larry Miskel, County Clerk Lesa Lietzow, Collector of Revenue Shawn Schlottach, and Treasurer Michael Feagan.
