Deep in the ditch

Owensville Fire Department volunteers from Mt. Sterling and Owensville stations rescued 35-year-old Bay area resident Charles H. Niebruegge from the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving Saturday which went off U.S. 50 into a deep ditch. Niebruegge was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at 3:01 p.m. before being transported to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City with serious injuries. He faces charges alleging felony driving with intoxicated as a prior offender  and C&I following the crash reported by 2:08 p.m. Sept. 27. Niebruegge was driving east on 50 a half mile east of Morre Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right side of the road, struck several trees and a fence before overturning and coming to rest on the truck’s passenger side, according to Trooper Drew O’Brien’s report.
