Donald Lee Spurgeon, 73, Cuba, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 1, 1945, to Omar and Gertrude (Howard) Spurgeon, at Rolla.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Campbell, Jan. 24, 1970, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Don provided custom hay baling for many years and was an avid outdoorsmen. He enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting when he was younger, especially mushroom hunting. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by parents; Omar and Gertrude Spurgeon; brothers, James and Gene Spurgeon; brothers-in-law, Ervin Hendrickson and Jack Shafferkoetter; and sister-in-law, Lucille Campbell.

He is survived by wife, Nancy, of the home; children, Tammy Durham and husband Greg of Union, Tina Ely and companion Ben Hunter of Bourbon and Donnie Spurgeon of Cuba; grandchildren, Megan Ely and companion William West of Cuba, Abbie Ely of Bourbon and Mason Hunter of Bourbon; great-grandchildren, Maria and Waylon West of Cuba, Ely Hunter of Owensville, and Landyn Hunter of Owensville; sisters, Ruth Hendrickson of Owensville and Frances Sutter and husband Charlie of Nixa; sisters-in-law, Betty Spurgeon of Owensville, Pat Shafferkoetter of Sullivan and Fannie Lea and husband Joe of Cuba; brothers-in-law, Mike Campbell and wife Rosemary, Gary Campbell and Steve Campbell and wife Christine all of Cuba and Dave Campbell and wife Terry of St. James; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Chapel with Josh Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery at Red Bird.
