Having their Jam the Gym game spoiled back on Tuesday, Feb. 9 with a 56-47 loss to Union, Ryan Flanagan’s Owensville Dutchgirl basketball team looked to get back on the winning track last Monday night looking for a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) victory on the road at New Haven.

Holding a slim 19-14 halftime lead, OHS outscored the host Lady Shamrocks 37-12 in the second half going on to post a 56-26 victory along Highway 100.

Edging New Haven 12-9 after one quarter, the Dutchgirls got four points from Breanna Diestelkamp along with two each from Ella Wright, Liana Miller, Katelyn Landolt and Kate Angell helping them to a slim lead after eight minutes of basketball.

Surviving a low-scoring second quarter, Angell added five points giving her a team-high seven first-half points.

Nearly doubling their point total in the third quarter, Owensville blitzed the host Lady Shamrocks 17-6 to take a 36-20 lead with eight minutes of basketball to be played.

After being held to four first-half points, Diestelkamp accounted for seven points in the third quarter for the Dutchgirls. Anna Finley (4) and Anna Skornia (2) joined the scoring column for the first time for OHS in the third quarter.

Once again holding New Haven to six points over the final eight minutes, Flanagan’s Dutchgirls put 20 on the board helping them improve to 2-3 in FRC play.

Diestelkamp led Owensville and all scorers 15 points. She also pulled down nine rebounds and blocked five shots.

Miller joined Diestelkamp in double figures scoring eight of her 12 points in the second half.

Finley just missed double digits in scoring with nine points while dishing out a team-high four assists.
