Edmund Edward Bickmeyer

Edmund Edward Bickmeyer, 87, Hermann, died Friday, March 23, 2018, at New Florence Nursing and Care Center, New Florence.

 He was born Dec. 24, 1930, to Edward Christian and Elnora (Eikermann) Bickmeyer, in Stolpe.

 He was united in marriage to Eleanor L. (Schweppe) Bickmeyer, Nov. 8, 1952, at St. John’s U.C.C., Berger.

Edmund was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. He was a former member of the Hermann Brush and Palette Club and the Hermann Eagles. He also was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.

 He worked at Rite Point in Hermann and also for Wellsville Fire Brick. After leaving Wellsville Fire Brick he started his own business and owned and operated Ed Bickmeyer Masonry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working in his rose garden, building deer stands and spending time with his family. 

Edmund was preceded in death by parents Edward and Elnora; sisters Leona Vohs, Janetta Erfling, Arlene Rupp, and Verneda Schaumberg and a brother Bernell Bickmeyer.

He is survived by wife Eleanor; daughter, Diane Witthaus and husband Scott, of Rogersville; sons Mark Bickmeyer and fiancé Joann Dobson, and Kurt Bickmeyer and wife Janelle, both of Hermann; sisters LaVerta Schulte, of Overland Park, Kan., Norella Keller, of Washington and Elladean Van Booven and husband Denis, of O’Fallon; brother, Norbert Bickmeyer and wife Betty, of O’Fallon; sister-in-law Ruth Bickmeyer; of Hermann; eight grandchildren, Jill Bacon and husband Danny, Seth Witthaus, Joshua Bickmeyer and wife Jessica, Austin Bickmeyer, Shelby Bickmeyer, and Dalton, Korinna and Kale Bickmeyer; step-grandchildren, Desiree and Evelyn Dobson; three great grandchildren, Braxton and Maddux Bacon, and Rylinn Bickmeyer; and one step-great grandchild Kayden Dobson.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul U.C.C. or St. John’s Cemetery.
