Edward E. Campbell, 87, New Bloomfield, formerly of Belle, died Sept. 10, 2018, at The  Bluffs in Columbia.

He was born April 9, 1931, to Burgess and Myrtle (Bauman) Campbell, in Belle.

He was united in marriage to Marcella Calvert, Nov. 10, 1972, in Jerseyville, Ill.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then began a 40 year career in the trucking business. He worked for Piasa Motor Fuels. He also worked for 19 years at McDonnell Douglas where he was part of the experimental lab for the Gemini Space Project. Ed was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church and the MO-JAC camping club.

He was preceded in death by parents, Burgess and Myrtle; wife, Marcella; brothers, Raymond and Robert “Bobby” Campbell; and sister, Erma Lou Gatewood.

He is survived by daughters, Karen Campbell-Miller and husband Jeff of Greenville, S.C., Terri Finley of Ratcliff, Ark., Shelby Athey of New Bloomfield and Kelly Long and husband Bob of Jerseyville, Ill.; brother, William “Bill” Campbell and wife Sherry of Owensville; and 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 14, at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit. Burial with military honors followed in the Liberty Cemetery in Belle. Memorial contributions suggested to Central Missouri Honor Flight.
