The Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department has an Auxiliary group that was formed in December. There has not been an active auxiliary associated with the department in more than 10 years.
Carrie Wehmeyer serves as president for the new group.
While they are busy planning for future projects, their first order of business is restocking the emergency totes kept in the department. These totes are filled with drinks, snacks and other items and are taken out to the firemen when they are on a call that lasts for hours.
The auxiliary is asking for donations for the following tote items (no glass items):
• Styrofoam cups
• Individually wrapped paper towels
• Trash bags
•Gatorade powder mix or bottled Gatorade
• Hot cocoa packets, ground coffee and standard coffee filters
•Slim Jim snack jerky
•Bottled water
• Individually wrapped crackers, cookies, granola bars, candy bars, chips, etc.,
• Cans or bags of nuts, packs of gum
• Walmart gift cards
• Monetary donations.
When notified, members of the auxiliary will pick up a tote or two and transport it to the scene.
The auxiliary will meet again Thursday, April 18, at 6 p.m. at Firehouse 2, 406 Grandview Ave, Gerald.
Auxiliary members do need to have a relationship with firemen, just a desire to help those firemen who volunteer their time.
For more information, come the April meeting, or leave a message at 764-2410.
