Florence Gloria Vandeven, 95, Rolla, formerly of Owensville, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Rolla Parkside Assisted Living.

She was born June 3, 1922, to Stephen J. and Cecilia Clara (Sikorski) Hass, in St. Louis.

She was united in marriage to Frank Henry Vandeven, May 11, 1946, in St. Louis.

Florence was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Rolla. She was a member of Our Lady’s Sodality and also very active, with husband Frank, in the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus activities. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and loved her pets. She will always be remembered for her zest for life, love of animals, the outdoors, her baked rabbit casserole and pies, and her witty sense of humor and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Cecilia; her husband, Frank; sons, Stephen and Thomas Van Deven; grandson, Garrett Van Deven; brother, Albert Hass; and sister, Dorothea Sedlak.

She is survived by son, Francis Van Deven and wife Peggy of St. Paul; daughter, Linda Sands and husband Bill of Rolla; daughters-in-law, Agatha Van de Ven of Asheville, N.C. and Mary Vandeven of Normal, Ill.; brother, Roman Hass and wife Bonnie of St. Louis;grandchildren, Ryan, Gregory, Thomas and Courtney Van Deven, Bobby Van Deven and wife Angela and Kristine Walski and husband Ron; and great-grandchildren, Preston, Christian, Vivian and Evelyn Walski and MacKenzie, Gianni and Mason Van Deven.

Her memorial mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 11 a.m.,  at Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Her cremains will be interred at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Owensville.  Memorial contributions suggested to the Rolla Animal Shelter.
