Hilary (Haase) Ward will once again be the mayor of Gerald. She defeated Brad Landwehr with 118 votes to his 44. She will join her mother Ruth Haase, who held onto the Ward 1 Alderman seat to which she was appointed without facing an opponent. Haase pulled 93 votes while nine cast write-in votes against her. Steve Grgurich, a two-term incumbent for the other Ward 1 seat, was defeated by Angela Koepke 79 votes to 36. Ward 2 Alderman Kent Richardson, who was also appointed to office and had no one running against him, garnered 42 votes with five casting write-in votes. The new board and mayor will be sworn in and seated at the April 11 reorganizational meeting of the Board of Aldermen, held at City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
