Causing nightmares for opponents in the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) for four years during her high-school playing days in Owensville, former Dutchgirl basketball standout Hailey Diestelkamp has done the same to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for the last two years.

Last Tuesday night in a game that has been dubbed the Bank of Bolivar Highway 13 Catfight, Diestelkamp simply carried the team on her back.

Scoring 19 first-half points against the Lady Bearcats, Diestelkamp added 23 more in the second half to break Alice Heinzler’s previous Drury single-game scoring record of 41 points dating back to Jan. 27, 2017 against William Jewell.

Hailey’s game-high 42 points moved her within 55 points of reaching 1,000 points in her young Drury University (DU) Lady Panther Basketball Career.

“Hailey’s so deserving of that record because she’s playing a different role and potentially taking this time on her back at time,” DU head women’s basketball coach Molly Miller said. “We needed someone to step up and she kind of answered the call.”

Hailey’s 42 points and 17 rebounds earned her GLVC Player of the Week honors for last week.
