Harry Niewald

Harry C. Niewald, 92, San Francis, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at the Piggott Community Hospital, Piggot, Ark.

He was born June 17, 1925, to August and Florence Niewald, in Owensville.

He was first united in marriage to Audia J. Boyd Niewald, July 14, 1950, in Piggot, Ark., and to this union one son was born. He was later united in marriage to Annie Craft of Powe, May 27, 2005.

Harry moved from Owensville to Piggot, Ark. to help start the Brown Shoe Company there. He farmed throughout his life, served as a county judge for eight years and spent two years with the county road department until his retirement.

Harry was a member of First Baptist Church, Piggot, Ark. and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge #207, becoming a Master Mason May 1, 1953. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by parents, August and Florence; his first wife, Audia; and his son, Harry C. Niewald Jr.

He is survived by wife, Annie Niewald of Dexter; daughter-in-law, Margie Niewald of Piggot, Ark.; brothers, Raymond Niewald of Bland and Erwin Niewald of New Haven; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the First Baptist Church.
