Helen Ruffner

Helen Berniece Ruffner, 89, Owensville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.

She was born April 8, 1929, to Oliver and Ruby (Butler) Decker, in Kansas City, Kan.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth O. Ruffner, Feb. 19, 1948, in Owensville.

Helen had been a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Bland since 1940. She taught Sunday school and was the church treasurer for many years. She enjoyed oil painting, quilting, ceramics, cooking and handcrafts.

She was preceded in death by parents, Oliver and Ruby; husband, Kenneth; sisters, Erlene Vincent, Sherra Fleischmann, Betty Thompson and Edith Decker; and brother, Charles Decker.

She is survived by son Dennis Ruffner and wife Karen of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter, Kathy Ruffner of Owensville; brother, Billy Decker and wife Nancy of Gerald; sister, Patsy Vincent and husband Larry of Warrenton; granddaughter, Kitrina Meyer of Jefferson City; great-grandchildren, Tyler Renkemeyer and wife Hope of Jefferson City and Jordan Renkemeyer of Jefferson City; great-great-grandchildren, Madeline Renkemeyer and Lydia Renkemeyer of Jefferson City; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 30, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Bland with Pastor Terry Hogan officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.
