Service technicians for AT&T have been replacing cellular telephone antenna equipment for the past week on the tower off Meyer Road west of Owensville. Owensville resident Mike Yamnitz spoke with the Dallas-based crew including a British man and a Scotsman who were working 400 feet in the air replacing the equipment. The boom extending them to the top of the tower is bolted to the crane supplied by the Rolla-based Gabrielle firm. The crane can reach a maximum of 450 feet, Yamnitz was told. The 8-axle crane is a $5 million unit and required permits from the Missouri Department of Transportation to move on state highways. Workers climb the structure during work conducted on Dec. 12. The workers are barely visible working in foggy weather on Dec. 14.
