James Gauzy

James Joseph Gauzy, 85, Gerald, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.

He was born June 1, 1932, to Joseph and Bertha (Tayloe) Gauzy, in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Eileen J. Raaf, June 23, 1951, at Holy Family Church in Port Hudson.

James was a member of St. Gerald Catholic Church, Gerald. He enjoyed farming and trading used cars and farm equipment.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Bertha; wife, Eileen; son, William Gauzy; brother, Wilbert Gauzy; sister, Irene Dunn; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He is survived by daughter-in-law, Anita Gauzy of Washington; grandchildren, Sara Grither and husband Scott of St. Mary and Devin Gauzy and wife Kyungsun of Daegu, South Korea; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lexie Grither and Avin Gauzy; brother, Jerome Gauzy and wife Dorothy of Sullivan; sister, Thelma Hornaday of Springfield; and sister-in-law, Wanda Gauzy of Gerald.

Visitation will be held (today) Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Gerald’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Foster officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Port Hudson.
