John Echols

John Robert Echols, 75, of Bland, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at his residence.

John was born on Aug. 8, 1942 in Mcleansboro, Ill. to Clyde Raymond and Madeline (Hunt) Echols. He was united in marriage to Dianne Lucille (Trautman) Williams on May 12, 1989 at St. Charles County. He was an active member of UAW 325, the Owensville Rod and Gun Club, and National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Madeline (Hunt) Echols.

His survivors include his wife Dianne of Bland; his four children, Steven Echols and wife May of O’Fallon, Terri Winkelmann and husband Dave of O’Fallon, Jill Shinn and husband Cass of Rocky Mount, and Bradley Echols and wife Christy of Osage Beach; and one sister, Lawana Harper of Maryville, Tenn., sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed hunting and enjoyed his retirement working around the farm.  His family was most important to him and his motivation during his 31 years at Ford Motor Company in Hazlewood.  He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.  

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Pastor Phillip Rector officiating. Visitation the same day from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Owensville.

Memorials may be given for Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
