John M. McDaniel

John M. McDaniel, 84, Bland died Friday, March 23, 2018, at his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1933 to John A. and Minnie Ann (Hicks) McDaniel in Bland.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Bialczyk in Belle on Dec. 23, 1975.

John was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. He worked at the International and Brown Shoe Companies. He also was employed at Kingford working in the kilns and at Lyn-Flex West. Later in life he cut and sold cord wood.

John loved fishing which earned him the nickname “Catfish John”. He enjoyed going to the local cafés, and having coffee with friends and to discuss the daily events. John liked to watch westerns on T.V., playing guitar, gardening, growing flowers and plants and attending family reunions. 

He was preceded in death by parents John and Minnie; brothers, Harvey, Clifford, Bert, Logan and Joe McDaniel; sisters, Mae Shockley, Myrtle Baker, Marie Corman and Oma; and an infant sister, Effie. 

John is survived by wife Ruth; sons, Matt McDaniel of Bland and Rueben Bialczyk and wife Kathy of Nevada; and sister, Patsy Gehlert of Belle.

Arrangements entrusted to Sassmann’s Chapel, Belle.
