Kenneth Darwin Steinbeck, 82, Owensville, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.

He was born Feb. 13, 1935, to Oliver and Ethel (Reithmeyer) Steinbeck.

He was united in marriage to Lillian Bunge, June 15, 1957.

Kenneth lived in the Mt. Sterling area all of his life. He served his country with the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea from 1958-1959. He started as a young farm

hand working for Fred Schaeperkoetter and later started his career as a mechanic at Schaeperkoetter Sales and Service in Mt. Sterling and continued working there until April of this year. He was a driver for Beaufort Transfer for three years.

Kenny was a talented musician. At an early age he started playing music with his dad and brother. Over the years, he played in many bands, including Country Sound and Swinging Diamonds.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milton, Donald and Richard Steinbeck; son-in-law, Alvie Steinbeck; and granddaughter, Christina Nicks.

He is survived by wife, Lillian; children, Susan Steinbeck of Ow- ensville, David Steinbeck and wife Lori of Owensville and Robert Steinbeck and wife Becky of Linn; grandchildren, Sherry Nicks Lo- coco, Shane Nicks, Ashley Steinbeck McBride, Michael Steinbeck, Lily Steinbeck, Ben Steinbeck, Sarah Steinbeck and Allison Steinbeck; and great-grandchildren, Christian and Zechariah McBride.

Funeral services will be held (today) Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel with Rev. Wayne Nowack of ciating. Burial will be in Old Bland Cemetery near Bland.

Memorials suggested to Owensville Rural Fire Association and/or Owensville Transit.

Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owens- ville.
