Leon Helling

Leon W. Helling, 74, Linn, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

He was born Dec. 14, 1942, to Raymond and Mildred (Fahrmeier) Helling, in Franklin County.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Hoener, June 8, 1968, in Bay.

Leon attended Union High School. He owned and operated his own excavating business and was an over the road truck driver but due to failing health he retired in 2007. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Owensville.

He enjoyed being outside hunting and shing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; son, Stephen Helling; sister, Carla Helling; and brother, Mark Helling.

Leon is survived by wife of 49 years, Joyce, of the home; children, LeAnn Helling and husband Donald Mounce of Owensville and Bradley Helling and wife Korrie of Mexico; daughter-in-law, Melanie Helling of Mexico; sisters, Ann Havelka and husband Dale of Owensville, and Beth Hendrickson and husband Dennis of Overland Park, Kan.; brothers, Rollin Helling of Leslie and Kent Helling of Owensville; half-brother, Michael Helling and wife Barbara of Union; grandchildren, Diana, Alex, Ona, Bradley, Wyatt, Stephen, and Melina; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Owensville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Leon Helling Family. Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Chapel, Linn.
