Leona Anna Idel, 93, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born Nov. 13, 1925, to August and Anna (Fleer) Hesemann, at Drake.

She was united in marriage to Raymond George Idel, June 9, 1946, at Union.

Leona was a member of Zion-St. Paul United Church of Christ in Bay where she belonged to women’s fellowship.  She was a member of the University of Missouri Extension Counsel for many years and had also served as a Woollam 4-H leader.   She enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting, cooking and family.

She was preceded in death by parents, August and Anna; husband, Raymond; daughter, Doris Ridder; and brothers, Clarence, Paul, George, Hubert, Raymond and Benjamin Hesemann.

She is survived by children, Robert “Chuck” Idel and wife Pam of Owensville, Roger Idel of Columbia and Norma Anderson of Lake Ozark; son-in-law, Dale Ridder of Bay; grandchildren, Doug Ridder, Dustin Ridder and wife Tricia and Derek Ridder, all of Bay, April Jardes and husband Brian of Lenexa, Kan., Clara Decker of Osage Beach, Berkley Idel of San Francisco, Calif., Ryan Idel of St. Louis, James Anderson of Lake Ozarks and Lauren Crisman and husband Stephen of Osage Beach; great-grandchildren, Decker and Duke Jardes of Lenexa, Kan., and Trace and Trigg Ridder of Bay.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, at Zion-St. Paul United Church of Christ in Bay with Pastor Darrel Deeker officiating. Burial was in Countryside Memorial Gardens, Owensville. Memorial contributions suggested to Zion-St. Paul United Church of Christ women’s fellowship of Bay.
