Leslie woman killed when UTV struck a tree

Kaileigh D. Weaks, 29, of Leslie was killed when a UTV in which she was riding struck a tree. 

The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, June 2, on Fox Creek Road, east of Steusse Road. 

The Polaris Ranger was driven by her husband, Casey B. Weaks, 26, who suffered moderate injuries in the crash. 

According to a report filed by Tpr. R. A. LeClaire with Missouri Highway Patrol’s Troop C, the couple was traveling eastbound. The Polaris traveled partially off the right side of the roadway, the driver corrected and then travelled off the left side and struck a tree. 

No safety devices were in use at the time of the accident. 

Union ambulance personnel pronounced the death at the scene at 11:19. Casey Weaks was taken to Mercy Washington.

The UTV had only minor damage and was towed from the scene.

Casey Weaks was charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
