Franklin County Dispatch notified Gerald Police that a physical domestic assault in progress had been reported in the 800 block of Terrace Drive Saturday evening.

Officer Rich Anderson responded to the call about 9:30 p.m. and made contact with the alleged victim. She told him the accused perpetrator, her boyfriend, had already left the home with his child. Anderson contacted the man by phone and asked that he return to give his statement, but he refused.

The victim claimed she had been slammed against a boat in the garage, pushed and choked. Marks on her body bore out her story, according to Anderson.

An EMS crew also responded to the scene, but no one was transported to the hospital.

Eric W. Raaf, 32, was arrested at his parents’ home north of Gerald. He told police that he may have pushed the woman, but he denied choking her.

Anderson was accompanied to the out-of-town home by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies.

Raaf was taken to the Franklin County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with second degree domestic assault, a felony.

A $10,000 cash-only bond was set.
