Marie Strobel

Marie “Mutz” Strobel (nee Huighe) passed away at the age of 90, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at home. She had been on hospice and had a very aggressive cancer. 

Born May 5, 1928, she enjoyed very good health for 88 years. 

She was married for 62 years to Marvin “Bud” Strobel who passed in 2009, and they had one daughter Linda Minnigerode. 

Marie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville. She was an amazing independent, strong, wonderful woman who had many skills and talents. From roofing a house to quilting, sewing, and crocheting. She learned to play the piano in her 40s, for several years enjoyed oil painting, and she was great at finishing furniture and building things. 

She liked to fish, crayfish, take road trips, and look for rocks and pick walnuts. She was the dear grandmother, “Mo,” of Elisa, Joe, and Nick and great grandmother of Haley Ryan, Lydia Minnigerode, Caden Moss, and Lainey Moss. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Marie Huighe and brothers Frank, Bill, and Ray. 

She has a sister, Bernice DeLarber, and a sister-in-law, Garnet Huighe. 

She was a proud aunt, cousin and friend. 

Visitation and service were at Kutis Funeral Home in St. Louis with Pastor Roth of Zion Lutheran conducting the service
