Marshall law for Zoie Bertagnolli

As one of four seniors on the Owensville High School girl’s track and field team this past spring, Zoie Bertagnolli helped the Dutchgirl track program to their first-ever Four Rivers Conference (FRC) championship in school history.

Bertagnolli also helped Dutchgirl cross country to their first district title since 2003 on the course at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Linn.

Next year in college, Bertagnolli will get to keep one of her high school colors and trade in another running track and cross country for the Missouri Valley College Lady Vikings in Marshall, Mo.

On the track as a senior in Owensville orange and black, Bertagnolli showed her versatility competing in multiple events including the 800-meter run, 1600-meter run, 3200-meter run, 4x400-meter relay and the 4x800-meter relay.

Helping the 4x800m Dutchgirls earn honorable mention status at districts, Zoie teamed up with Sophia Ashner, Paige Heckelmann and Alesha Shockley to post a fourth-place time of 10:33.96 at St. James to earn them a spot in one of four Class 3 sectional meets at Carthage High School.

Kicking off her senior year in the fall, Bertagnolli was among four seniors looking to end their OHS Cross Country careers with back-to-back FRC titles.

Kendra Hults, Katie Candrl, Heckelmann, Ashner and Shockley, helped their senior teammates Emma Nicks, Adriene Aubuchon, Joy Stewart and Bertagnolli finish their days as OHS harriers with another FRC title.

Zoie’s best individual finish as a senior came in her final Owensville Invitational Cross Country meet at Owensville Golf Course with a 20th-place time of 23:47.3.

In the fall of 2016 during her junior year, Bertagnolli registered a fourth-place time of 26:38.0 at the annual FRC meet held on the St. Clair High School campus. That finish helped the junior varsity Dutchgirls claim a FRC title along with giving Zoie All-FRC honors for her finish within the top 10.

Zoie will have a chance to race against a pair of former FRC harriers in Evangel’s Leslie Perona (St. James) and fellow Lady Viking Taylor Faccaro (Union).
