Milferd Elfline

Milferd “Jake” Ray Elfline, 86, Hermann, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at his home.

He was born Aug. 24, 1931, to Benjamin K. and Mary B. (Gentry) Elfline, in Big Spring.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Frances (Bruckerhoff) Elfline, April 14, 1956, at St. Joseph Church, Rhineland.

Jake was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Berger. He worked for Binkley Company in Warrenton for many years and was the alderman of Berger for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by parents, Benjamin and Mary; brothers, Marvin and Milburn Elfline; a stillborn brother; sister, Margaret Elfline; granddaughter Jill Elfline; and great-grandson, Elijah Garner.

He is survived by wife, Loretta; children, Milferd R. Elfline Jr. and wife Michelle, David W. Elfline and wife Jennifer, Donald J. Elfline and Victoria L. Held and husband Andrew, all of Hermann, Lori A. Heichel and husband Steven of Overland Park, Kan., and Robert D. Elfline and wife Jennifer of Rosebud; sister, Mildred Brautigam, New Haven; brother, Melvin G. Elfline and wife Juanita of Summersville; and 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren;

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church. Memorial contributions suggested to St. Paul’s Church or Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer.
