Gasconade County Republican managing editor and photographer Dave Marner (right) joined two other photographers inducted Oct. 18 into the Missouri Photojournalism Hall of Fame for 2018. Marner joined the staff of the Republican in 1992 as sports editor. He studied photojournalism at the University of Missouri School of Journalism from 1980 through 1986. He previously worked at The Fulton Sun, The News Tribune, The Capital Daily News, The New Haven Leader and The Hermann Advertiser-Courier. He has won numerous awards throughout his career. Also inducted this year were David Rees and Thelma Blumberg. Rees (left) taught photojournalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia from 1986 until his retirement in 2018. Accepting the award for her aunt was Jodi Darby. Blumberg worked as a free-lance photojournalist in the late 1950s and 1960s in what would become known as Gaslight Square in St. Louis. The induction ceremony was held in the University of Missouri’s Reynolds Journalism Institute.
