To Missouri voters: service organizations seek support of bingo through Amendment 4

Posted

I am writing to ask for your support for Amendment 4 on the November ballot. Voting YES would help get more workers for the bingo games in Missouri.

Currently if you join an organization that has bingo, you would have to be a member two years before you could work bingo. Amendment 4 would change that time to six months.

In Missouri, only non-profit and service organizations can hold a bingo license such as the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legions, VFW Post and many other charitable organizations.

The income from bingo is vital to all of these organizations and support many of our programs including scholarships, food for the poor, wheelchair missions, Special Olympics, pregnancy center support, etc.

As a prime example, our council is one of only two in the state of Missouri to pledge platinum-level support for the new Special Olympics Training Center in Jefferson City.

All bingo workers in Missouri are non-paid volunteers. There is no common sense reason this restriction is on the law books.

Please vote YES on Amendment 4 in November.

Thank you
