More ice, more rocks on the ice

It seems each time ice forms on Lake Charles, someone feels the need to throw large rocks on the ice. What may seem like harmless fun to some, actually costs the taxpayers money. The rocks are purchased and placed along the dam to help prevent erosion. A serious erosion problem at the spillway already has the lake’s level at a nearly record low mark. Gerald Police believe they know who is responsible for the rock throwing, but since it is juveniles, names have not been released. Hopefully, once the juveniles understand the consequences, they will decide to stop the game. Park funds are already stretched thin, another load or two of rock was not in this year’s budget.
