OHS Track teams claim three team titles at Pacific

Competing against Hermann and Pacific last Tuesday in Franklin County, Matt Candrl’s Owensville Dutchmen and Dutchgirl track teams topped the team standings in the boy’s varsity, girl’s varsity and girl’s junior varsity standings.

In the JV boys division, Trenten Watkins won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in times of 12.48 and 25.73 respectively. Ashton Kramme also placed second and third respectively in the same events behind Watkins.

Posting top-10 times in both events for the JV Dutchmen were Watkins, Kramme, Reagan Wehmeyer, Bryce Blankenship, Brandon Allen, Brent Helmig, Michael Lowes and Justin Roethemeyer.

Taking eight of the top nine spots in the varsity boy’s 800-meter run include Austin Terry (1st), Jacob Breedlove (3rd), Treyden Williams (4th), Chayse Doerr (5th), Freddy Zheng (6th), Dylan Fudge (7th), Devon Farris (8th) and Alexander Kellogg (9th).

Six varsity Dutchgirls finished in the top 10 of the 1600-meter run including Kendra Hults (1st), Sophia Ashner (3rd), Mekayla Gibson (6th), Macy McKinney (8th), Emma Skornia (9th) and Wisdom Zumsteg (10th).

Dutchgirls posting top-10 times in their respective 100m dash races included Isabelle Bruckerhoff (V 1st), Mackenzie Armstrong (V 2nd), Grace Hale (V 3rd), Wenkel (V 4th), Anna Skornia V 6th), Kate Angell (V 7th), Liana Miller (V 10th), Caleigh Crofford (JV 1st), Keira Hendrix (JV 2nd), Grace McFalls (JV 3rd), Kyla Hendrix (JV 4th), Anna Heidbrink (JV 5th), Olivia Vandegriffe (JV 6th), Jessica Johnson (JV 7th), Megan Binkhoelter (JV 8th) and Molli Gross (JV 9th).

 Alexis Branson (V 1st) and Kyah Weirich (JV 1st) both won their respective races in the 400-meter dash.

Katie Candrl won both varsity races with times of 16.71 in the 100m race and 51.54 in the 300m race.

Ethan Poertner won both the JV boy’s hurdle races with times of 20.99 in the 110m hurdles and 48.77 in the 300m hurdles.

Dutchgirls throwing their way to top 10 marks in the javelin included Candrl (V 1st), Veronica Courtouise (V 2nd), Miller (V 3rd), Anna Skornia (V 4th), Cadi Ruth (V 5th), Emma Skornia (V 7th), Vandegriffe (JV 1st), Keira Hendrix (JV 2nd), McFalls (JV 3rd), Alyssa Belloir (JV 4th), Emily Tiefenbrunn (JV 6th) and Emily Copeland (JV 7th).

Adding to his victory in the pole vault the previous Friday at Blair Oaks, senior Jacob Luther won the javelin at Pacific with a throw of 127-05 followed closely by fellow Dutchmen senior Lucas Edwards with a second-place throw of 120-03.

Doerr (7th), Jacob Hall (8th) and Michael Miles (9th) also finished in the top nine of the javelin at Pacific.

Roethemeyer also took second in the JV boy’s javelin with a throw of 77-07. JV Dutchmen teammates also in the top seven included Wesley Kandlbinder (4th), Alex Mounce (5th) and Harm Rademacher (7th).

Back over at Blair Oaks, Luther was among three Dutchmen in the varsity boy’s pole vault with Boyde Nicks clearing 11-0 to place third while TJ Whelan was fifth with a clearing height of 10-0.

Out of all four relay races at Blair Oaks, both the Dutchmen and Dutchgirl 4x800-meter relay teams posted third-place finishing times of 9:07.32 and 11:12.17 respectively.
