Out Mt. Sterling way

Owensville Fire Department volunteers from the Mt. Sterling station made a fast stop of a structure fire Saturday evening in a garage and workshop owned by David Owens, Sr., west of the Gasconade River in the 5200 block of U.S. 50. Firemen from the Owensville stations, Gerald and Linn assisted during the call which went out at 5:55 p.m. July 21. Owensville Fire Chief Scott Stranghoener said they could not rule out an electrical issue as the probable cause of the fire which caused a large portion of the roof to collapse. A car and lawn mowers inside the structure were damaged in the fire. A fireman signals that pressure has built up on a pumper truck. Firemen hose down the interior of the structure as smoke billows out at them. Firemen were on the scene until around 8 p.m.
