Pastor Knight concludes 62 years as area minister

Pastor Terry Knight closed out a 62-year career in the Baptist ministry on Sunday, preaching his final sermon at New Salem Baptist where he’s been since 2007. Knight made his traditional walk through the congregation as he began the service, greeting parishioners as he worked his way to the pulpit. Using his cell phone, he transmitted the service to a home-bound church member, according to New Salem member Ken Nelson who shared his images of Knight’s final service. The congregation gathered for a meal afterward. Knight also served as a fireman and chaplain for the Owensville Fire Department for a combined 51 years. He served at Baptist churches including New Friendship near Gerald, Broadway in St. James, Lynchburg, Leasburg, Mint Hill at Chamois, Mt. Zion outside Bland, and Beulah near Belle. He was also a fill-in “supply pastor” at Presbyterian and UCC congregations in the area.
