Pigs at a picnic

Cool temperatures drew a large crowd to the St. Gerald’s Catholic Church picnic Saturday. A petting zoo with goats, pigs, rabbits and kittens was available for youngsters. It was strategically placed under a shade tree near both the barrel rides and the church hall. This allowed youngsters waiting for their turn on the barrels, or waiting in line to eat, to spend time with the animals. A flurry of excitement occurred when one of the young porkers squeezed through the fence and made his escape. After much squealing, by both the pig and the kids around, a bystander was able to snatch the little guy and return him to the pen. A bounce house and games of skill also kept the youngsters entertained. Vendors, food, music plus beer and wine kept the adults happy.
