Pursuit, crash ends in felony charges against Owensville man

Douglas Logan, 38, of Owensville, was arrested early Saturday after fleeing a traffic stop east of town, leading county sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit which ended in Franklin County when the Ford Mustang he was driving went off U.S. 50 and into a building at County Line Road.

Gasconade County deputies had attempted to stop Logan on Highway 28 near Nursing Home Road early March 2.

“After Logan failed to yield to the emergency lights and sirens, a vehicle pursuit was initiated,” according to Sheriff John Romanus. “The pursuit traveled eastward along Highway 28, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The pursuit traversed onto US Highway 50, where a deputy attempted to set up a tire deflation device. Due to Logan’s speed and the risk to an uninvolved motorist at the intersection, the device was not deployed.”

The pursuit continued through the city of Rosebud and more than double the posted speed limit of 35 mph, according to Romanus. At County Line Road, Logan lost control of the car and collided with a building along the gravel road.

“Logan exited the vehicle and ran away from the wreckage on foot,” Romanus reported. “Deputies pursued Logan over a fence for a short distance then apprehended Logan.”

Logan was taken into custody for resisting arrest, numerous traffic violations, one Division of Probation and Parole absconder warrant, six Owensville Municipal Court warrants, and one Belle Municipal Court warrant.  Logan was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and then transported to the Crawford County Jail without further incident, according to Romanus.

On the evening of Feb. 26, deputies attempted to stop a Dodge truck on Fourth Street near South Ridge Lane south of Owensville. The driver fled south but deputies had to discontinue their pursuit in the Hog Trough Road area due to unsafe road conditions, the sheriff reported.
