Robert Jay Smith, 69, Owensville, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 1, 1949, to Norman J. and Wanda (Rucker) Smith, in St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Kay Cato, Nov. 20, 1976, in Meridian, Miss.
Robert was a member of Season’s of Faith Fellowship Church of Owensville. He worked as a cutter in shoe component manufacturing and served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed trout and crappie fishing, camping, gardening, kayaking and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Norman and Wanda.
He is survived by wife, Kay; sons, Lee Smith and wife Beth of Belle and Shane Smith and wife Rebecca of Spring Bluff; brothers, David Smith of Marion, Miss., and Tom Smith and wife Toni of Arnold; and grandchildren, Ethan Schenk, Elissa Shanks, Elliott Smith, Marina Smith, Zander Smith, Austin Smith and Carly Smith.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Season’s of Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Mike Satterfield officiating. Memorials suggested to the American Liver Foundation or Season’s of Faith Fellowship Church. Arrangements entrusted to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville.
