A Rosebud tradition

Volunteers staging the fireworks display at Rosebud Community Park on Saturday gather before the show for a group prayer following a safety meeting. The show included an estimated $8,000 worth of consumer fireworks purchased through local donations. Area residents put on the show, continuing a tradition which began with friends launching displays at the edge of town. Several thousand viewers have gathered at the community park in recent years for the show. Area residents will have the chance to view another fireworks display on Friday when the Owensville Fire Department hosts their annual Firemen’s Picnic at Memorial Park. Children’s games inclding turtle races (6 p.m. on Memorial Field) and kiddie tractor pulls (6:30 p.m) are planned.
