Susan B. Dickmann, 94, formerly of Perryville, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at McKnight Extended Care in Ladue.

She was born Jan. 24, 1923, to Dr. George H. and Laura Shaw (Kiesler) Bredall, in Perryville.

She was united in marriage to Dr. Howard W. Dickmann, Oct. 8, 1944, in Perryville.

Susan was a 1940 graduate of Perryville High School. She attended Southeast Missouri State University for two years and was a 1944 graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. While she was at Mizzou, she was a member of the Alpa Phi social sorority and Phi Upsilon Omicron, National Honorary Home Economics Fraternity. After marriage, the couple moved to Fort Devens, Mass., where her husband served in the Army Veterinary Corps until 1947. After returning to Perryville, they established Dickmann Animal Hospital.  Susan was instrumental in managing Dr. Dickmann’s practice and actively participated in her children’s activities serving on the PTA, as a Girl Scout leader, and on countless civic and school committees.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.  She enjoyed tennis, crafted many lovely things for her home and family, and was an avid bridge player. She travelled extensively visiting all 50 states and Canada and especially enjoyed summers in Colorado at her parents’ cabin.

She was preceded in death by husband, Howard.

She is survived by daughter, Janice Yamnitz and husband Michael of Owensville; son John B. Dickmann and wife Rachel of Fenton; grandchildren, Dr. Lisa Huettel and husband Dr. Scott Huettel of Chapel Hill, N.C., Laura Guenthner and husband David of Bentonville, Ark., William B. Gresham IV and wife Annaliese of Durham, N.C. and Alex and Erik Dickmann of Fenton; great grandchildren, Elissa and Nicholas Huettel of Chapel Hill, N.C., Ava, Owen and Cannon Guenthner of Bentonville, Ark. and Liam, Findlay and Sebastian Gresham of Durham, N.C.

Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Oak Hill Mausoleum, Kirkwood. Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Handrick officiating.

Memorial contributions suggested by the family to Immanuel Lutheran Church or School in Perryville.
