Steven R. Neal, 27 from Gasconade County was arrested by Gerald Police on first degree felony burglary and misdemeanor stealing charges.

Officer Rich Anderson reported that the incident occurred at a home in the 600 block of S. Cedar Street, around 4 p.m. March 19.

A juvenile was home at the time and hid under a bed, while Neal allegedly took two cell phones and a bow.

One of the victims of the crime identified Neal, who was serving probation on a stealing-related offense, as a possible suspect. It is believed he worked in Owensville with one of the victims.

An investigation led to Neal’s arrest on March 28 and he was taken to the Franklin County Adult Detention Center.

During a second interview at the jail, Neal confessed to Anderson.

He said he had taken the items to a storage shed in Owensville to hold until he could sell them. He also told Anderson he had gone to St. Louis earlier on March 19 to purchase heroin and was high on the drug when he committed the crime.
