Teenage driver hurt in roll-over crash into tree on Brinkmann Road

An Owensville teenager received moderate injuries last Wednesday afternoon when the 2004 Ford Explorer she was driving went off Brinkmann Road and struck a tree.

Owensville Fire Department and Owensville Area Ambulance  personnel needed nearly 30 minutes to extricate Chyann E. Williams, 16, from the vehicle which came to a stop on its side, pinned up against a large oak tree.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report filed by Trooper Drew O’Brien, Williams was traveling west on Brinkmann Road about 1.5 miles west of Highway 19 when she crossed over the center of the gravel road, over-corrected, and went off the right side of the roadway. The Explorer struck the tree and came to a rest on its side.

Williams was trapped under the steering column and dash. Emergency personnel removed her on a backboard through the rear hatch door. She was transported by ambulance for treatment to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. The May 23 crash was reported at 3 p.m.

She was wearing a seat belt, O’Brien reported.
