Three shutouts for Dutchgirl soccer

Posting shut outs of Battle and Belle in back-to-back games early last week, Jordan Palmer’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team looked to do something they’d never done before Thursday night at Dutchmen Field.

With assistant coach Luke Kriefall in charge due to Palmer being away with the OHS Jazz Band, the soccer Dutchgirls welcomed St. James’ Lady Tigers to Gasconade County for a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) showdown on the pitch.

Seven minutes into the match, Owensville got all the offense they would need before going on to a 3-0 shutout victory over the visiting Lady Tigers.

This marked the first time in the five-year history of the program that Dutchgirl soccer has recorded three consecutive shutouts.

Entering the game with 39 goals for the season, Destinee Busenhart made it 40 goals finding the back of the net early in the first half for an early 1-0 lead.

That goal would be the only tally mark for either team in the first half.

Still clinging to a 1-0 lead, Kriefall’s Dutchgirls would get an insurance tally at the 12:52 mark of the second half.

Adding to her two goals in junior varsity action against Belle two days earlier, Erika Lauer found the back of the net on an assist from Busenhart doubling the Dutchgirl lead to 2-0.

Just over two minutes later, Busenhart scored again with 10:30 left for the match helping the Dutchgirls to their final margin.

Alexis Altemeyer earned the shutout in goal for Owensville.

Two nights earlier, Palmer’s Dutchgirls welcomed Belle’s Lady Tigers for senior night and a Highway 28 soccer showdown on the pitch last Tuesday night.

Scoring five first-half goals, Owensville got all they needed in the first 40 minutes before going on to post a 5-0 shutout over their Highway 28 neighbors to the west.

Busenhart broke the scoreless tie against Belle with her first of four first-half goals near the 27-minute mark on an assist from Katelyn Landolt.

By the seven-minute mark of the first half, Busenhart had yet another hat trick with her third goal of the game assisted by Renee Elliott.

Minutes later, Elliott made it 4-0 with a goal and another assist from Landolt.

In the final minute of the half, Busenhart made four first-half goals for the Dutchgirls.

In a one-half junior varsity match, Lauer scored both goals helping Owensville to a 2-0 win over Belle.
