Two men airlifted after separate area one-vehicle accidents

Austin D. Bush, 18, of Sullivan suffered serious injuries in a crash that occurred Thursday, Nov. 23, at 7 p.m. 

Details of the crash were taken from a report filed by Msgt. C. L. Patton, with Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

Bush was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion southbound on State Route H south of Sapsucker Road. He traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a metal culvert. The vehicle became airborne and overturned. 

Bush was transported to Mercy St. Louis by Air Evac. He was using a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The car was a total loss. 

Robert J. Brand, 54, of Leslie was seriously injured in a traffic crash Friday, Nov. 24. 

The 4:56 p.m. crash occurred as Brand was headed northbound on Highway 185, north of Mueller Road..

Brand was on a 2012 Harley Davidson FLST CI when he attempted to overtake another vehicle. As he did so, he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. He traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned. He was taken to Mercy St. Louis by Arch Air Medical. 

A report filed by Tpr. M. W. Hedlund, with Troop C of the MSHP, noted that Brand was using safety device at the time of the crash. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage.
