Leonard “Corker” Sickendick, shown above with a shirt and hat he received as gifts recently, left today with other area veterans to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Calvin Schulte, Les Pohlman, Bill Diez and others will travel with Sickendick. Corker was a tank commander during the war and served in France, Germany, Austria and Italy. His service earned him a bronze star.
