Owensville officials are advertising for formal Requests for Proposals
(RFP) on the city’s power grid and electrical generation system. City
Administrator John Tracy said it was another step toward getting the
city out of the electric business and is needed to determine what value
the city’s system has on the open market.`
Tracy told aldermen at their Nov. 3 meeting that an RFP was needed to “determine an appraised, fair-market value” of the city’s entire electrical system and its equipment. The request is advertised in this week’s Republican and firms in the St. Louis region which have knowledge about electrical systems will be contacted by direct mail. He said he knew of at least six firms which do these kinds of assessments.
“We’ve got to have this to get our ducks in a row to get the heck out of the electric business,” said Ward 2 Alderman John Kamler. RFPs are due by 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.
