After meeting for 10 minutes Monday, in closed session with the city’s elected marshal, Owensville aldermen voted 4-0 not to pursue a proposal from Sheriff Randy Esphorst who offered to provide contracted law enforcement services by the county.
Ward 1 Alderman Brian Esptein’s motion came after the board met for
about 25 minutes on their own after meeting with Chief Robert Rickerd,
said City Administrator John Tracy, speaking for the board.
Rickerd said he was glad for “some closure.” Esphorst was
disappointed he did not have a chance to present the plan in person to
the board. The board meets with MoPEP officials in a special closed
session at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
