Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to see and work with groups and individuals in Gasconade County, as well as all of the counties in the 16th Senate district. 

This past week, I was pleased to see two area health care related projects that have recently come together. I found these facilities exceptional, cutting edge, progressive, and a whole list of adjectives that describe how impressed I was with the area’s commitment to health care and the care of Gasconade county residents. 

I was first able to tour the new facilities at the Herman Hospital and speak with the staff. Wow!  After visiting the doctors, staff, and board of the hospital, it is clear that it is on par with the premier health care facilities in the country.

The professional equipment, outstanding services, skills of surgeons, and procedures that can be done are equal to or perhaps even better than any other hospital in Missouri (even the biggest ones). The commitment to the community that the Hermann Area District Hospital board has achieved should be applauded, and I encourage you to congratulate them. 

Next I was able to see the new addition to the Owensville area. Gasconade Manor, the 21-bed rehabilitation unit and physical therapy rehab department, will be second to none. The occupational therapy unit to transition injured patients back into their homes will give the dignity of self back to each individual, while also helping family members’ confidence in the well-being of their loved one.

The plush living assignments allow people to truly feel at home and will certainly facilitate patients’ recoveries.

Again, my compliments go to the staff for their dedication to the area and the health of residents in the community. This group is professional and acts more like family than employees.

Gasconade County, you have a lot to be proud of.
