Recipients of 2009 Owensville Chamber of Commerce awards include…

(from left) Daryl “Hootie” Decker and Diane Decker (accepting for their father, James Decker, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award), Kevin Lay (Educator of the Year), Craig Brown (Public Service), Andrew Michel (recipient of the Heart for Owensville Award), Ruth Jost (Employee of the Year), Scott Peth (Young Man of the Year), Megan West (Young Woman of the Year), Glenn Ely (Employer of the Year), Kyle Lairmore (Man of the Year), and Nathaniel Blankenship (Entrepreneur of the Year, shared with Larry Lonigro who was not present). Blankenship and Lonigro also shared the Beautification Award for the JnL2 store. Awards were presented Saturday.

After seeing the recipients of the awards I have a question ..Educator of the
Year.. I know a teacher that was nominated with 34 yrs in education, and the
person that was given this award has only been an educator for just a few years
.. Maybe it should be called Best Coach of the Year and not be based on
Education. And as usual another Larimore .. keep it up and we will run out of
them, or they can get them by proxy.
Here is something to think about !! Next
year have all of the nomination forms forwarded to a committee in China and have
them pick the recipient by merit and not by the Good Ol Boy Way.
