Mayor Otis Schulte hung up on reporter Linda Trest when she attempted to interview him two days prior to the start of a full-out FBI and MSHP investigation into the Gerald Police Department. Here are some of his comments to The Washington Missourian.

“I hope the citizens don't think we let them down. We don’t have a way of checking these guys out,” said Schulte. “We had no idea if these (calls and faxes) were going to the guy’s house or where. We just all want answers. Hopefully the town won’t get all down on us. Nobody is trying to hide anything.”

Regarding a May 11 meeting between Trest, Chief Ryan McCrary, Lt. Scott Ramsey and Alderman Brad Landwehr, he said he was not invited to attend. “I heard bits and pieces that it happened Sunday,” said Schulte. “I’m the chief officer of the city and should be informed of these things.”

“I don't know how we can be held liable as a city because he never worked for us - he was never paid by us,” said Schulte. “He didn’t even pull one hour under reserve status for us.”

I have to tell you, I find it interesting
that "Mayor" Schulte has been quoted,"Everybod y
in town is unhappy because we finally, in 25 years, had a good
police department," he said. "We've had good officers in
the past but the whole department was doing a good
job." [Washington Missourian] Really???

So, previous to this
"good police department" during the past 25 years,
how many times did the DEA and FBI come in and clean out the police station, the computers,
files, evidence,...EVERYTHING? That would be never.

Why? Because the officers that served before them had integrity
and intellingence, oh, and POST certification.

What did they lack? The ability to break the laws they swore to uphold, and be
scapegoats and yes-men to the mayor.

Mr. Schulte is ready
to blame anyone BUT himself in the huge fiasco; a problem that could
possibly bankrupt the City of Gerald. But that is his modus
operandi, it's everyone's fault but his own.

So, the
question is this this, citizens of Gerald, do you continue
to support the court jester who pretends to be king?
Or demand him to be dethroned, it's up to you. For me,
the choice is easy...
